VIVA! ! !

As mentioned in a much earlier post my kids enjoyed a soccer themed day at school..well finally here is my promised update on the event.
It was a cold, grey day in Melbourne...surprise, surprise. The kids woke early ready for the fun day ahead. My youngest walked out of her bedroom and yelled VIVA MEXICO!! And so began the World Cup Soccer day . As I said in my earlier post my kids were representing Mexico, Germany,Denmark and Chile.

My eldest told me that they were grouped with kids from all ages and would be rotating around different mini soccer games. Here are a few photos of the action of the day. I was unable to go because I had to work , my sons teacher kindly took photos for me.

So ended the mini World Cup...with Germany taking out the winning honour!!! The kids really enjoyed the day. What a great way to celebrate a major sporting event. It is rare to have school activities which encompass exercise, geography, team work and culture appreciation. The kids not only spoke of the soccer skills they learned but also the facts they gathered about the country they represented. Here are a few quotes from my gang regarding the day:

              “Mum I was the striker”

“We had to explain the rules to the Preps

“The colours I’m wearing are the same as the Chilean flag- red, white and blue"

                                           “I had fun Mum”

As the real World Cup competitions comes to a close we watch with a better understanding of both the sport and the competing countries. VIVA!!!

I am grateful for the education my children receive.

  1. Hi Cindy, Just thought I would drop by your blog and I'm glad I did! It's so lovely, love your pictures. I need to get a lot more creative, I have seen a short course advertised at a local Neighbourhood House in the area we are moving to soon, so hopefully the dates will work in with our move. Your kid's World Cup day sounds like it was great. I love that education can be so diverse and rich in culture.
